Summertime...

...and the living is easy!

What a day! We spent the afternoon, on Sunday, at the beach. It was HOT. 90 and humid! Just awful. But boy did that cool water feel refreshing. We also sought respite in the shade at this particular beach. Our local one doesn't have shade by the water. Most of the kids in the picture are ours - except in the background. Between Maggie & Al, Kate & Jeff, Gretchen & James, Jon & Sara and Mark & me there were 20 kids running around. I wish I had taken more. I didn't get close-ups of all the kids. And I didn't get one of Paul for my family.

Aapo
(Oh! I did get Paul. There he is to the left of Aapo.)

Nikayda & Aapo just moments before Nikayda tried to take off with Aapo's green bucket that she's holding.

Edited to add: Jeff & Kate were here too and there were 20 kids between all of us. Also, Dave & Laura (Jeff & James' sister) showed up later with a few of their youngest kids.

Jen,
Nice to get relief, eh? We couldn't make it to St. John's either, so we buzzed up to Duluth on Saturday. Got to go swimming in my beloved Lake Superior (cold, but oh so worth it!) and partake of my favorite sandwiches in the world.

And what might those be? :)(sandwiches)

Awesome! A day in Duluth sounds fun. I'm hoping we can do a quick trip near the end of summer (once we're in our place). If not with the whole family, I think it'd be nice for Mark and I to go to Stillwater. Been wanting to go there forever! (And we've never been anywhere by ourselves since we had kids!)

Good junk + beautiful scenery + Starbucks = perfection, in my book! Lol.

Yes - I want to know what the sandwiches are too!! And where to find them. I'm sure we'll need to make a lunch stop near Duluth on our last day of driving.

Jen - looks like a fun day! Nice to see photos of the kids, and the other girls' kids. :-)

Not to make you jealous, but I was cold yesterday. I don't think it got above the high 60s.

Oooh. I am so jealous! I love that cool weather.

It's funny because I think I was about the only one around here who was loving it at the beginning of last week when we had a couple of days of low '70's. :)

In response to the *many* questions on sandwiches, the place is Sir Benedicts towards far end of Superior Street. If you're there on the right night, they also have fun music. Bellisima!

Thanks! We'll have to try them next time we're in the area.

And the most important part: What do you recommend?
