Garage Saleing

Garage saling. Garage saleing. Garage sale-ing.

How DO you spell that?! No one seems to know...It's seems proper to have the 'sale' in there because that's the norm, like 'saleing'...yet it doesn't look quite right...Hmmmm......

Anyhow, those of you by my mom & dad may have an endless and overwhelming amount of garage sale options for this weekend. I have 6. Yes. There are 6 sales beginning tomorrow. Plus 1 that started today. And if I had noticed, I would have been the first one there because it's listed as an "Estate Sale". My favorite kind.

That is, if it's really and truly an Estate Sale. I've hit the jackpot at Estate Sales twice in the past couple of years. They're few and far between. (The 'real' ones.) I filled my little bargain-cruiser at both of them!

Seriously.

My favorite artificially flavored one is the one I drove miles out of the way to, only to walk into the garage and turn around. It was not an estate sale. When there are the usual garage sale items mixed with plenty of baby clothes and baby stuff along with a handful of antiques. That is not an Estate Sale! Don't be fooled.

A true Estate Sale is a sale composed entirely of old treasures! Often the entire house is filled with an elderly person's belongings - all up for grabs. That sounds pleasant, doesn't it? 'Up for grabs." As if we're just taking all of their belongings. But you are because I've found some of the best prices at these Estate Sales. Often they feel like real 'steals'.

They really are the best!

I was so incredulous at this particular sale (the artificial one) that I even asked the very young lady (the 'young' part was my first clue), "Do you have more stuff inside?"

She smiled so sweetly, "No. This is it."

Better luck next time.

I'm with ya there...an estate sale, is WAY different than a garage sale. I quit reading ads altogether and now I just drive around in the hopes of getting lucky. Too often I'd be disappointed as someone would advertise something like, "30 years of collecting has to go" and I'd eagerly mark that first on my list only to get there and learn that they had NO clue what a 30 year collection should look like.

well thats news to me, i guess you learn something new every day! i thought an estate sale meant the people are moving (far away) and they want to sell some stuff so they dont have as much stuff to pack and move. oops thought wrong!! :)

Not sure on the spelling. It says saling isn't right but I like that better than saleing so do as you like.
