I now officially have a headache due to the fact that my brain is filled to the brim, make that, overflowing with ideas and inspiration. I've been blog-surfing for the past...well let's just say, for way too many hours but it's been fun!
Now, I am more-than-antsy to get settled into our house. For many reasons, but the most recent being, a.) I will be cooking a whole lot more and can post pictures with my recipes. b.) I can post more pictures of my junk. My life is so completely and totally disorganized at the moment... and c.) So that I can switch over to Typepad and have a whole lot more fun with this whole blog thing!
But for now, my whole house remains in disarray with a fast closing-in date for moving! I've got my packing cut-out for me with three little ones running circles around me the whole time. This ought to be interesting. I'm one who has a hard time focusing with the kids around.
The reason I was blog-surfing: I was seeking inspiration for my walls. Looking for paint colors. After hours-upon-hours of looking at what other people have done, I've officially settled on a color for the living area and the kitchen. Drum roll please...yeah! Like this is so necessary - considering how we all know how "settled" my decisions are these days. We all know full-well that I change my mind every five minutes. ;)
So drum roll please...I'm going to paint it white. Yep. I'm going with white. I've been waiting for...when did I leave home?...let's see, it's been about...well, let's just say it's been about 10 years that I've been renting. Moving and renting many different dwellings and in each place, I've lamented over the fact that I was forced to stare at white walls...and that I couldn't paint them. And I'm going with white?!!!!
And I'm happy about this decision? Yes I am. Truthfully, I made that decision months ago. I just didn't listen to that little voice until this evening after looking at every color under the sun! But let's remember, I haven't picked up the paint yet. So no holding-your-breath!
I've decided that it's the most practical at the moment. For one, we're planning to put bead board up on the walls someday and for two, because I have a lot of color in my accessories that I'll use to decorate with. I have a lot of white stuff too. But white on white works awesome so long as you have a lot of different textures, which I do.
I just need furniture. Every piece of furniture I own, but for one chair (more on that in a minute), are hand-me-downs or garage sale finds. I have no plans in the immediate future to go furniture shopping. I'm not even sure what I want. Do you know that we don't even own a couch?! We just have a little love-seat size one but it's worked perfectly in this tiny little rental!
About the chair. It's leather and chocolate brown. What I always wanted - or so I thought... I've always liked the look of leather but now after this one (and other nicer ones that I've sat upon, this one was very inexpensive), I'm so inclined not to buy leather again. If it's hot, you stick to it. And I'm a sweat box, to put it nicely. It also doesn't much go with the beach house, shabby chic, cottage style I like either. I feel like it's too formal, for one. It's pretty. Yes. But not my style. Besides I LOVE the look of slipcovers and someday I want to try my hand at those.

I know what you mean about fretting over colors, etc. Picking out curtains is such a committment for me even. My Michigan house had curtains in one room, the rest of the windows were covered w/ white wood slat type blinds. It is really mind boggling.
I think that this is why i have no interest in building... the thought of starting from scratch is a bit overwhelming to me... that and I don't really care, to me, if the walls or curtain or anything else aren't completely ugly- I'll just work with it.
However choosing my camera was a completely different story.... it took months :)
ack! That was me
I won't even get started on curtains! Lol.
Marijane P. gave me some great advice, which I'm not following, but it's really good: Pick out your curtains first. Then you already have the colors for the room because they're one of the most difficult things to choose! I think that's awesome advice.
It's ironic, actually, because I'm not usually that wishy-washy. I'm usually very sure of what I want. I don't know how to explain it...because I know the look I'm going for but I do seem to sway between things a lot when making the final decisions lately. I suppose it might have a little to do with the stress... :)
And, Julie, I've been blog-surfing for camera's lately. I've come across a lot of great photography sites. The camera is one thing that I have no idea about yet. I didn't do enough research when I bought my last film camera years ago and I wish I had. So this time, I'm reading up on everything before I get a digital. (But I really don't know much yet).
Ah - the leather chair. The very first thing I bought for my own home was a black leather chair. I had no other furniture. Everyone laughed. But I don't like to buy "in-between" things. I like to wait until I find "the one" and then I buy it, with the exception of a kitchen table, I had an in-between one for a while and I finally sold it. :-) Oh - I still love my leather chair, even though black is not very practical with the dog. It's the one thing he is not allowed on (and thankfully, he doesn't find it very comfy ;-)
Sounds like fun!
I'm with you on that (not getting in-between stuff). I'd rather save that money, be it only a few bucks, toward what I *really* want. I used to do a whole lot more of the in-between stuff but now it just makes more sense to wait. (Hence, the reason my home will be lacking in furnishings for who knows how long...) :)
