I'm going to start one that I found on someone elses blog. List 6 Weird or Unknown Facts About Yourself and then tag someone else. I know the tag-thing runs out pretty fast as there aren't a ton of us (people we know) on blogs - so I don't think I'm going to tag people so much as just say to feel free to answer the same on your own blog or if you don't have a blog, feel free to respond in the comment section! Figured this was a good way to get people out of their shells, not to mention a great way to help them incriminate themselves. ;)
Hmmm...think....think. I'm pretty open about myself on this blog. What haven't I said yet? Let's see... What do I actually want to admit to?
- I guess this is an easy one. I'm 30 years old and still love to read Archie Comics. Jughead is and has always been my favorite character. He's so cool and quirky. And who doesn't love his crown shaped cap?
- I was once told that I look like Drew Barrymore. I was at a garage sale (no small surprise there). I was wearing a vintage silk scarf on my head and oversized sunglasses that covered everything but my mouth. And my belly was out-to-here. I still remember what I was wearing that day, but that doesn't really matter. I was about 12 months pregnant at the time (ever feel like that?) so it was probably a good thing I was wearing something. So was this a compliment? I'm still not sure. I took off my sunglasses as I entered the garage and she retracted her words. I left with two vintage lanterns* and scratching my head. (*The lanterns are hanging in my kid's room - in a picture somewhere on this blog. Btw I think Drew Barrymore is very pretty. She's had quite the life but she is pretty so I thought it was cool for a moment, until she changed her mind. Lol. I say that only because I really don't look a drop like her).
- I got into a fist fight with the neighbor girl when I was in 8th grade. I'd like to stess here that that was the one-and-only time that such a thing happened to me. I'm not a confrontational person. I'm not quiet as a mouse but I avoid conflict as much as possible. My family may disagree here :) but with everyone else, I avoid conflict. Even then, I would NEVER physically fight anyone (little sisters excluded). :) She actually attacked me. With some friends. And I was half her size. I was just thrilled that she thought I was so tough that she needed to bring friends.
- This brings me to my next thing. I was very shy and quiet during my school days. As a kid and when I worked in an office when I was younger, I didn't speak up enough. In school, I was very insecure. People probably thought I was so shy because I hated talking in front of the whole class. However, after taking a mandatory speech class in ninth grade, I got over that shyness. But I still feel insecure at times in a big group if I don't know people well enough even though in general I'm very outgoing. I'm not afraid to talk to anyone for the most part. But everyone can feel insecure at times, even those of us who are very outgoing. I enjoy meeting new people and getting to know them and striking up conversations with random people. I like to learn the names of everyone I run into on a regular basis. The kids who work at the bakery, the lady who works at the grocery store checkout, the lady who owns Rich's Antiques. You name it. I love connections. That's why I love this small town so much! I get to know people because that's me. (And it's also why I'd love if you'd comment when you feel like it. - Even if you are a friend of a friend and came from a friend's blog).
- I'm really into politics (but not as much as some people). I don't think too many people know that. I'm a staunch Republican. However, I still think all politicians are too liberal for my tastes. I'm very conservative. I enjoy reading and following politics. However, I've been paying attention to only one thing for the past couple of months and that's my house and have momentarily lagged on the politics.
- And the last thing I'm going to write, that is mostly unknown to many people, is that I'm obsessed with all things vintage. I'm obsessed with junk. You, who have been keeping up on my blog, already know that but most people aren't aware of that fact. Yet. :) But this you may not know, I am obsessed with and am on a serious mission to collect as many Fisher Price Little People as I possibly can. And all of their accessories and buildings. I once spent about seven hours on a Sunday afternoon, browsing Little People on Ebay. I kid you not. (This post is obviously in the weird catagory. :) Lol). I'm talking about the ones from the '80's and earlier. The ones that really were little. And I'm especially interested in the wooden ones but I'm collecting the 0ld plastic ones too. Not the ones they make now that are all big and round and actually safe for children to play with. I envision having buckets full of the Little People themselves. Wouldn't that look so cool on display? In my Project Studio? That means I need hundreds of them! If anyone comes across this post and you have Little People* that you're willing to get rid of, please send me an email (you can go through my profile to find it). I'll even pay for shipping! Yes. I am that serious.
Now it's your turn to tell us 6 Weird or Unknown Facts about yourself!
*On a side note here, I'm disappointed that the Little People that I actually played with as a kid have all but disappeared. I'm still hoping that mom will come across a bag of them in the house somewhere, someday. But I'm not holding my breath. ;) At least I have a Little People potty chair that I found in the girl's Barbies when I lived there. That's something, right? Lol!
Yay! I found a toilet!
