Living room ceiling - detail.
This will most likely be whitewashed so you can still see the grains. We're working on a compromise... I really, really wanted it painted but Mark doesn't. He likes the grains. But he doesn't care if it's stained or whitewashed.
Above: This is of where the living room ceiling meets the loft ceiling. The living room ceiling drops down a couple of feet from the loft. There may be a couple of windows up at the peek some year. And I literally mean some year. I took this picture while standing in the entryway.
I didn't have my camera when I was up in the loft earlier. And I wasn't itchin' to get back up there. I'm scared TO DEATH of heights. My palms were sweating the whole time I was on the second floor. Seriously.
I hate when the stairs are all roughed in and you can see straight down into the basement...through the second floor stairs! Eeek! lol.

Don't cover all that beautiful wood with paint. I am with Mark on this one. I had initially wanted to white wash our ceiling in our house too, but I am SO glad that we just clear coated it, as the space would seem too washed out with white on the ceiling. It seems like it keeps the ceiling from being so high up there.
Plus, that is a ton of work to just cover with paint.

To clarify:
We ARE planning to cover it with something white. Maybe I'm using the wrong word, when I say "whitewash"?? Our plan is to use something white that lightly covers the wood but you can still see the grain...
