Toot! Toot!

That would be the sound of me tooting my own horn. :)

It's official, as of this very morning, I have lost ten pounds! I had previously said "almost ten" because I wasn't quuuuite there yet. Well, now I am! It's been slow because I've only made subtle life-style changes, so far. I'm hoping this will be a big month, what with the Fitness Challenge that I'm doing. And I've got extra motivation since we're going to Michigan in May.

I've finally had it with all of those people who keep asking me, "So. When are you due for this one?" Been hearing that EVER since I got home from the hospital with Carter! Granted, he was my biggest baby and my belly was bigger than I ever thought possible - and everyone I'd run into thought I was having twins...but man, never thought it'd be so hard to lose the belly after he was born. It just "came off" with the other two.

When I stopped at that garage sale, about a month ago, I got asked again, "When are you due for this one?" I'm not even pregnant. It's funny because as annoying as it is, I'm just getting so used to people saying that to me. I even said that to the lady. I've lost count on how many ladies have said that to me (somewhere around 5 or 7 times). Luckily, it's only been ones I don't know. :)

I'm also becoming one of "those" people who are into natural and organic stuff. I used to wonder why people would get so into it. But the more you learn and read about it - and the more you see "organic" stuff show up at the grocery store, the more you realize it's not such a bad thing.

I've been a big believer in natural oils for a long time, especially Oil of Oregano but it's been fun learning about other things too. I'm still not sold on the "no-shots" thing though. I'm certain that I'll never go for that. My kids need to get caught up on them. One more thing on the "to-do" list.

I've been watching serving sizes around here, one of the changes I've made. Never done that before in my life. It's funny how quickly the kids pick up on it. Nikayda always asks, "How much is a serving?" whenever I bring out a snack. She's also been asking, "Is it healthy?" If I say, "no" or "not really" she's been telling me that she wants "something healthy." It sure has made this whole "health" thing a lot easier for me.

She's also been willing to try any and every vegetable that I've had in the house. She hasn't liked any of them yet but I'm glad she's trying. Aapo, on the other hand, won't even LOOK at a vegetable. I've got to start finding ways to put them in our meals. That'll be the next step.

On a change of subject, I can't believe how easy it was to potty-train Aapo. He goes to the bathroom all by himself, even washes his hands every time. I can hardly believe it! I need to get him his big reward: "a motorcycle with a guy on it...and a button to push". That's what he says he wants. He saw one at Wal-mart, last fall, and has wanted it ever since. He loves all those toys with the buttons that you press to make all kinds of noise, the ones Santa mysteriously nevers comes through with!

yeah, our Santa never really brings those toys...or if he does the noise mysteriously dissapears (remember Brett's tractor horn)

Hey jen, congrats on the weight thing. I am trying over here to lose this belly, but for some reason it is not budging. I was just thinking how junky we have been eating. Since we started building it has been whatever is easiest. ~Amy Loukus
PS. I have been 'spying' on your blog for a while lately! Thought I'd post a congrats.

Hey! Amy, how's it going!? Em mentioned that you have a blog. I haven't called her for a while. I'm going to have to get the address from her when I talk to her. Sounds like we're in the same shoes with the building and stuff. :)

Jen...congrats on your accomplishment! I have been telling myself that I need to lose "those 10 pounds" too, and they just don't seem to be going away! I have not been eating very healthy lately though and my serving sizes are definitely not small! So, I know how hard it is to do and I just wanted to say good job!!!!
