Carter can give himself nebulizer treatments now! It really is nice because they take a few minutes each time. He definitely needs some supervision as he gets antsy near the end of them but he's been doing really good on his own! He just seems like such a big boy when he does!
When he got this asthma attack, I decided to put the mouthpiece on and see how he did. (He normally just does what the docs refer to as a "blow by" which means exactly that. He'd just inhale the meds as they blew by his mouth). I just told him to "eat it" so he'd put it in his mouth and he did! (He gets more of the meds this way).
Note: He has a big welt on his head from a bug bite. They've been pretty bad at the property. Edited to add: Also, take note of his mullet because this is the last you'll see of it! I cut two inches off his hair yesterday. Aapo's getting a cut today. Anne had a great mullet story (make that two) on her blog and I got such a kick out of them. :) Carter's hair has been driving me nuts because it was getting so long in the back! Lol. So I finally got a chance to cut it! He looks like a little boy now and his face looks all the more chubby without the hair! I'll take a picture soon...

He looks happy. :-)
He's doing much better! His albuterol ran out and the pharmacy couldn't refill it until Thursday. His breathing is a lot better so I'm hoping he'll be fine for the next day and a half! (He only has two treatments left). I figure if he gets bad tomorrow, I'll just get refills at another pharmacy that has albuterol in stock. Here is hoping that he'll be fine!! :)
hes soo cute!! :)
You can get a mask for the nebulizer that makes it even easier to give them treatments. The one I have looks like a rhino, the kids think it's pretty cool! My kids read because their hands are free during the treatment, ask your doctor or pharmacy about it.
Thanks for the reminder Sue! I had thought about that a long time ago (and forgotten until just now)! I'm going to ask when I pick up his meds on Thurs.
I was thinking about that before! Because it would be a lot easier!
Poor Carter has to know how to give himself treatments! He's doing good with the tube it looks like. Anders has had to do the mask recently, but doesn't really like that in his face the whole time, so I should see if he could do it that way too! Hopefully we don't need to use it for awhile. He tends to have allergies, and has trouble breathing once in awhile due to weather changes is when I notice it.
That's when Carts is the worst too! (Between weather changes). I've wondered if he'd even keep the mask on but if it doesn't cost too much (because of no insurance), I'll probably try it and see how he does. But I've been pretty proud that the little guy has been doing so good taking it this way.
You should try it! Anders might think it's cool too. I made a HUGE deal about it and praised him up & down, telling him what a big boy he is, when we first tried it (and every time now) - I think that helps because he thinks he's big-stuff then!
He looks so cute doing it himself! I always put off haircuts here to and then I wonder why I waited so long after I do them because they look so much better.
emily
he does look so cute doing it by himself! what a cutie pie!
i too put off cutting brad's hair, mostly because it takes a LONG hour to cut it but the end result is always satisfying and looks good!
I also think he looks adorable giving himself his meds. Trying not to smile in the second picture...
I gave Paul the buzz this time around. And I think he will be having a buzz for a while now. I struggle way too much with cutting his hair. Plus I am liking really short hair on guys right now. So buzz it is.
Whoa! That was weird. I just posted a comment and it disappeared!
I was just saying how it's funny that it can take so long to cut a guy's hair! But Cart's and Aapo's don't take very long at all, now that I've done it enough. Although, I'm not very happy with Cart's hair this time. It was the first time and it seems a little like a hack-job when you look close - hopefully no one else notices!
He looks so cute sitting there giving himself his treatment! It just reminds me of the few times that I've had to do that for Maren...never fun! Hope your little guy is doing better!!
