Conversations

All the conversations around our house for the past week have been about going to grandma & papa's house.

I wish I could record these conversations. These kids are so excited and Nikayda remembers so much from last year. They keep reminiscing and talking about what they're going to do when we get there. They were just talking about Maggie (their shih-tzu). Aapo doesn't seem to remember her (he was pretty little) but Nikayda does.

Overheard in the livingroom moments ago...
Aapo: Is Maggie a little dog?
Nikayda: Yeah but She's fat.
(Someone said she's getting fat and that's why we haven't seen any pictures of her).
Aapo: She goes poop. Maggie's going to wear diapers.
Nikayda (all serious and sounding like a grownup): Just don't talk about that!
Aapo: Why?
Nikayda: That's disgusting!

(He's a big kid now so he talks about diapers like they're a thing of centuries ago. Both the kids have been going through the "poop" phase. It's a word I often catch them talking about). Ugh!

She keeps talking about how she's going to go play at the neighbors (Dan & Mary E.'s) with Jeanie and that Molly's going watch them when we go "junk picking". She's excited because Jean told her she can scrapbook with her. And, this morning, she packed her purse with pencils and papers for church when she comes.

A couple of things Nikayda said over the weekend:

• When we go to Grandma's, I'm going to hug Jeanie!
• Sometimes Danny be's mean to Jeanie. Last time, I told Jeanie if she cries I'm going to hug her.

After watching the elderly lady across the street, on Saturday, edging her sidewalk she asked me in an excited voice, "Mom can I help you garden when we get in our new house?"

You BET you can! You can pull all the weeds for me.

She was thrilled!
